As high-powered Memcached distros like Gear6 and NorthScale become more successful, other companies are getting in on the Memcached action as well.  Today GigaSpaces will announce the next release of their eXtreme Application Platform (which is analogous to a JEE server with an embedded database), which now includes support for Memcached.

GigaSpaces XAP 7.1.1 will be able to deploy with a Memcached schema and provide initial load semantics and write-behind for Memcached.  This feature will also add easier accessibility to the XAP for languages like Python, Ruby, and PHP.
